Connect Apple App Store Data to Revenue Sensor

Create an App Store Connect API key with the right role, add it, and pick your apps.

Apple does not use a sign-in popup for reporting. You create an API key in App Store Connect, download it once, and paste its details into Revenue Sensor. In the console this source is called Apple IAP.

Before you begin

  • Account Holder or Admin access to App Store Connect, so you can create keys.
  • Your Vendor Number, from App Store Connect → Reports → Payments and Financial Reports. It is shown at the top left, under your account name.

Create your API key

  1. 1

    Open the Integrations keys page

App Store Connect → Users and Access → Integrations → App Store Connect API.

  2. 2

    Generate a key

Click the + next to Active and give the key a name you will recognise, such as “Revenue Sensor”.

  3. 3

    Give it a reporting role

Under Access, choose Sales, Finance or Admin. Each of these can read the Sales and Trends reports Revenue Sensor imports. Admin is the only one that also gives exact App Store Connect numbers (see below). A key with only Developer or App Manager access cannot read revenue.

  4. 4

    Download the .p8 file

Apple lets you download the private key exactly once. Save it somewhere safe before you leave the page. If you lose it, generate a new key and use its new Key ID and .p8 file.

The single most common failure

If revenue comes back empty, or the account shows “Your API key needs the Sales role”, the key's role is almost always the cause: give it the Sales or Finance role in App Store Connect, then reconnect. Also check that the Vendor Number belongs to the same App Store Connect account as the key.

Add your credentials

  • Issuer ID: shown at the top of the App Store Connect API keys page. It is the same for every key.
  • Key ID: shown in the row for the key you created.
  • Private key: the .p8 file you downloaded. Upload it or drag it in. It is stored encrypted and never shown again.
  • Vendor Number: from Payments and Financial Reports.

Choose your apps

Revenue Sensor lists the published apps the key can see. Select the ones you want tracked. Only the selected apps are synced.

What gets imported

Revenue is units times Developer Proceeds from Apple's daily Sales summary report. Proceeds are what Apple pays you, after its commission and any tax it collects, so Payout is the only revenue basis for this source. A refund arrives as a row with negative units, so it is subtracted on the day Apple processed it. Downloads and refunds are imported from the same report.

Reporting lag

Apple publishes each day's sales report after the day ends, so today never shows yet. Recent days can move slightly as Apple restates them; every sync re-reads the last 14 days.
