How revenue is calculated

Where each source's revenue figure comes from, how refunds are handled, and what the revenue basis changes.

Every revenue figure in Revenue Sensor is already net of the refunds its source reports. There is no way to tell a net figure from a gross one by looking at it, so this page spells out where each number comes from.

Per source

SourceHow revenue is calculated
Apple IAPUnits times Developer Proceeds from Apple's daily Sales summary report. Refunds arrive as rows with negative units, so they are subtracted on the day Apple processed them. Proceeds are what Apple pays you, after its commission and any tax it collects.
Google PlayThe Charge and Charge refund amounts from Google Play's monthly earnings report. Refunds arrive as negative rows. Amounts exclude buyer tax, which is stored separately. Google's fee is stated in the earnings report, so the Payout basis can take it off.
PaddlePaid and completed transactions for each product, excluding tax, booked on the day the payment was captured. Approved refunds and chargebacks are subtracted on the day Paddle created them. Tax and Paddle's fee are stored separately.
Google AdMobEstimated earnings: your publisher share after Google's revenue share, including mediated ad sources.
AppLovin MAXThe Estimated Revenue column of AppLovin's MAX revenue report, in USD. It is net of the mediated networks' share, carries no refunds, and can still move for recent days.

The revenue basis

Each revenue account has a revenue basis, set on its Config tab. It decides which figure that account's revenue is shown as everywhere: the dashboard, Revenue vs Spend, the Revenue page and every app in the account. Changing it re-runs nothing; every figure for the account moves together.

One option for some sources

Apple's proceeds, AdMob's earnings and AppLovin MAX's estimated revenue are already what the platform pays you, and the platforms do not report the fee separately. For those sources Payout is the only basis, and the Config tab explains it instead of offering a choice.

Currency conversion

Each source reports in its own currencies. Every amount is converted to US dollars at that day's exchange rate as it is imported, and only then added up. The dashboard shows the result in the display currency you pick.
