Revenue Sensor vs AppsFlyer

One of these answers which campaign drove the install. The other answers whether the install was worth buying. They are not the same question.

Overview

The short answer

Revenue Sensor

Pick Revenue Sensor when the question is “did we make money?”

Revenue Sensor reads your ad accounts and your store reports directly, so there is no SDK to ship and no engineering work to schedule. It puts spend next to revenue taken from the stores' own reports rather than from events your app sends, and gives you margin per app and per country. If your real problem is that nobody can say what last month actually earned, this is the shorter path to an answer.

AppsFlyer

Pick AppsFlyer when the question is “where did this install come from?”

AppsFlyer is measurement infrastructure. It needs an SDK in your app, and in exchange it attributes installs and in-app events across networks, runs SKAdNetwork and Privacy Sandbox measurement, and filters ad fraud. Revenue Sensor does none of that and does not claim to. If you buy user acquisition at scale, you need an MMP, and AppsFlyer is a good one.

The difference

How Revenue Sensor compares

Where AppsFlyer stops short

  • No view of what the store actually paid you — revenue is what your app reports, before Apple or Google take their cut.
  • ROI dashboards stop at return on ad spend; there is no margin line and no P&L layout.
  • Cost per conversion means the bill grows with your success, and the Enterprise rate needs a negotiation.
  • Getting started means an SDK integration and an app release, not an afternoon.

Why Revenue Sensor

  • Connects in minutes with no engineering work and no app release.
  • Revenue comes from the stores' own reports, not from purchase events your SDK fired — so it reconciles against what the store tells you.
  • One P&L across ad networks and revenue sources, so margin is a number you read rather than one you rebuild in a spreadsheet.
  • Flat monthly price that does not move with your install volume, published on the pricing page.
Better together

Most studios run both

Keep AppsFlyer for attribution and SKAdNetwork, and connect the same ad accounts to Revenue Sensor for the money view. Revenue Sensor needs no SDK, so adding it changes nothing in your app and nothing in your release schedule.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Not if you need attribution. Revenue Sensor never claims to attribute an install to a campaign — it has no SDK and no device graph. What it replaces is the spreadsheet you build after AppsFlyer, where you paste spend and revenue together to work out margin.

No. You authorize read access to your ad accounts and store reporting, and data starts flowing. There is nothing to ship in an app update.

AppsFlyer reports revenue events your app sends it. Revenue Sensor reads the stores' own financial reports instead, so the number matches the store's record rather than your app's. Buyer tax is captured; the store's commission is not deducted yet.

It depends entirely on your conversion volume. AppsFlyer charges per conversion, so the bill scales with growth; our plans are flat. Below the free caps both are free. Run the arithmetic on your own numbers rather than trusting a general answer.

Attribution tells you where. We tell you whether it was worth it.
