Getting started

Revenue Sensor Quick Start Guide for Marketing Analytics

From an empty account to a real profit number, in about ten minutes.

You need two things for the dashboard to say anything useful: one place money goes out, and one place money comes in. Everything after that is refinement.

Before you begin

  • Admin or read access to at least one ad account you spend on.
  • Access to App Store Connect or the Google Play Console for at least one app.
  • Ten minutes. Most of it is waiting for the first sync.

1. Connect a spend source

  1. 1

    Open Integrations

In the Revenue Sensor console, go to Integrations and pick the provider you want to connect.

  2. 2

    Authorise

Meta Ads, Google Ads and TikTok Ads use a sign-in popup: you sign in and approve access. Apple Search Ads and Unity Ads use credentials you paste in instead.

  3. 3

    Choose accounts

After authorising you get the list of accounts that login can see. Select the ones you actually want to track. Anything you leave unselected is never fetched.

Popup blockers

The sign-in step opens a new window. If nothing happens when you click Connect, allow popups for the console domain and try again.

2. Connect a revenue source

Add the App Store, Google Play, Paddle, or whichever monetization source pays you. The setup guides below cover each one step by step. Apple needs an App Store Connect API key with the Sales, Finance or Admin role. Google Play needs a Google sign-in plus the Cloud Storage URI of your Play financial reports. Paddle needs a read-only API key.

3. Wait for the first sync

The first sync loads the last ten days within minutes, then imports the rest of your history in the background, back to your plan's history window. You can leave the page. The Sync status page shows progress.

4. Read your first number

Open the dashboard and set the date range to last month. Revenue, Ad Spend, ROAS and Profit should all be populated. If revenue looks lower than a store's gross dashboard, that is expected: each revenue account is counted on its revenue basis, which is Payout by default. Apple's proceeds are already after its commission. Google Play and Paddle are shown after tax and their fee, except that Google Play's most recent month reads before Google's fee until Google publishes that month's earnings report.

Sanity-check it once

Compare one month against your actual bank payout before you trust the dashboard for decisions. If the two disagree, tell us which source and which month and we will look at it.
